The UK is famous for its over-the-top Christmas market celebrations, serving up some of the nation’s favourite food and drink. And this year, the Christmas markets in and around Cheshire are better than ever before.
Manchester Christmas Markets
The most anticipated markets of the year, wind through the streets of Manchester City Centre. There are more than 300 free and accessible yuletide stalls and chalets offering crafted seasonal gifts, from handmade jewellery to bespoke Christmas products. Manchester’s Christmas Markets are famous for traditional bratwurst, but visitors can also treat themselves to Hungarian goulash, Spanish paella or a good old-fashioned hog roast.
And we can’t forget the Christmas mugs. This year’s design marks 20 years of the markets, and feature a modern pattern of a Santa on the mulled wine mugs, and a polar bear on the hot chocolate mugs. The mugs can be either be collected as a souvenir or simply returned for your £3 deposit.
Snow Globe Bar
A giant snow globe bar will be appearing at Piccadilly Gardens this year, as part of the new markets location. The dome will be serving festive winter warming cocktails, all beneath a canopy of twinkling fairy lights.

Chester Christmas Markets
The Christmas Markets are back in Chester until the 22nd December.
A handmade, historical and magical experience awaits with over 70 traditional festive chalets surrounding the iconic sparkling tree in the heart of the city centre. Grab delicious, hot mulled wine and browse the unique handmade crafts, jewellery, clothing, accessories, stocking fillers and local food produce and more. Visitors can also enjoy a tasty hog roast bap or stop in the Real Ale Bar for a festive cocktail or a pint of regional cask ale.

Christmas Shopping at the Stable yard
Discover the best local food and drink, including Tatton Farm and estate reared meat and produce in the Housekeeper’s Store. Indulge in winter warming dishes, festive afternoon teas and sweet treats in the Stables Restaurant and award-winning Gardener’s Cottage Tea Room.
Foodies Festival Christmas
Try the best of festive fare at the Christmas Foodies Festival. See Michelin-star and top chefs create amazing dishes in the Chef’s Theatre, as well as the stars of Great British Bake Off in the Cake and Bake Theatre.
Visitors can also enjoy a festive masterclass with cupcake decorating, Xmas cocktails, and orange garland making in the Festive Workshop. Keep in the Christmas spirit with vintage style singers and Christmas carollers performing throughout the day. Fancy a tipple? head into the Drinks Theatre with Champagne and wine experts introducing their favourite drinks for Christmas, plus gin, whisky and Christmas cocktail masterclasses. Feast on delicious street food and festive treats from around the world.
Keep the children entertained at the Elves Cookery School with classes in gingerbread baking and Christmas cookie decorating.
Now entering its 3rd year, the winter trail at Dunham Massey is now established as a highly anticipated event in the festive calendar. Along this years route you will see an array of brand new installations.
Wind down an avenue of gigantic flowers with a backdrop of the house which is brought to life with festive projections. Then take a step into the glowing Vortex Tunnels and stroll towards the mesmerising reflections made by Fire on Water. Take the time to pause and admire the delicate carpet of colour-changing blooms.
Returning visitors will be pleased to see their favourites return this year; The larger than life glittering deer; The Tunnel of Light twinkling with thousands of pea-lights and the Field of Light where you can discover the woodland world festooned with seasonal cheer.
End the evening with a walk under the stars with a cup of spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate and then gather around the fire-pit to toast marshmallows. There is also plenty to keep the young ones entertained as well with a Victorian carousel, helter skelter and other exciting family rides. Don’t forget to keep your eye out for Father Christmas and his helpers along the way.

Liverpool Christmas Market
Located outside the magnificent St George’s Hall, there will be 40 stalls offering European delicacies, where you can grab festive treats from the Bavarian Grill and Yorkshire Pudding Wrap stall and for those with a sweet tooth waffles and pancakes will be in great supply. For those who are looking for a Christmas tipple, mulled wine and other festive drinks will be served from the Windmill and Teepee bars leaving you feeling warm, spirited and ready for the Christmas season.
Carols by Lantern Light
Set within the stunning surroundings of the Great Hall at St George’s, amidst the warming glow of 100 lanterns, this is sure to be one of the most magical carol concerts in the city. Amazing artists such as Mezzo Soprano, Danielle Thomas and The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Chamber Choir will be performing our festive favourites.
Elf Adventure Challenge
Take part in Elf tasks and games, join in with the fun and music, when you complete your challenges successfully you will earn a certificate and the title of ‘Honorary Elf’ and who knows, you may be called on to help Santa in his duties. It’s an interactive, indoor experience full of fun, festive activities and action for children and adults to enjoy together where you will feel jolly, merry and full of Christmas spirit.
Luna Winter Cinema 2019
The ultimate festive cinema experience, the Luna Winter Cinema brings Christmas classics to the big screen. Situated right in the heart of the city at St Georges Hall, Luna returns to offer a cinema season worthy of such a magnificent location.
